Primary school students are at a critical stage in life when learning how to problem solve, how to think and act creatively has a long term positive impact on who they will become.   Art classes with Rose are fun, educational and based on three primary beliefs.

- The intrinsic value of enabling students to solve their own problems fostering an " I can." attitude.      BEING INVENTIVE                          - Having fun together in a creative, supportive environment that encourages sharing ideas and questioning perceptions.
- Visual arts as a media for communication, exploration and expression. Developing a visual literacy that creates ongoing opportunities for communication.
Various studies have shown that young children who regularly practice art have better hand eye coordination, better communication between left and right sides of the brain and go on to achieve better marks in maths, literacy and science throughout school.
95% of humanity uses tools.
%5 create the tools. Visionaries, leaders, inventors, problem solvers, independent thinkers.                         Classes are progressive and include Drawing, Painting, Collage and Sculpture utilizing air drying clay and found objects.  Drawing is at the core of each term. A variety of drawing exercises are utilized, blind drawing, observation drawings, memory drawings and imagination drawings. Each is important in developing new ways for students to perceive their environment, build technical skills and sensitivity to the spirit of their subjects.            A consistent emphasis is put on the importance of the process rather than the outcome. Space is given for discovery, experimentation, exploration and expression. Students are encouraged to make a mess and accept mistakes as valuable steps in learning.

Each term students are provided with an A4 visual arts Diary which they develop throughout the year. Other artworks may be taken home as they are finished.

Students made a honey comb print using paint paper and bubble wrap. Once it dried they could draw their bee in pencil...before drawing on the print we looked at bee s native to nsw , their shapes and colours and then we practised drawing them. after this students drew on their print with pencil and then coloured their bee in with colour pencil.
